omg it’s September 1! [SPOOKY PUMPKIN DANCE]
Halloween as a holiday, even commercialized, only wants you to be happy. It wants you to express yourself, if you wish, with a doofy costume of literally anything. Doesn’t have to be ~spooky. I wear a pair of $3 bat earrings and Halloween is happy for me.
Yes, Halloween DOES encourage you to spend relatively small amounts of money on grotesque amounts of candy. It does not ask you to cook for umpteen people. It does not ask you to try, and possibly fail, to roast a turkey. It does not ask you to cope with relatives you dread.
Halloween does not urge you to spend your savings on presents for people you like, do not like, and/or possibly don’t even know that well. It does not run commercials about buying your spouse a car for Christmas and sticking one (1) red bow on top.
Halloween does not start piping Seasonal Music into stores 24/7 around... (*checks watch*) now. Halloween plays “Thriller” a lot. Maybe that Backstreet Boys song with the monster video. It’s really just a free-for-all after that.
Halloween does not post the same old “what’s REALLY the best Christmas movie (it’s Die Hard)” piece every year. You can make up a Halloween movie marathon from LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF MOVIES, and like 96% of them aren’t about the True Spirit of Christmas.
I was going to say “Christopher Lee,” but Halloween contains multitudes
Halloween is Decorative Gourd Season, Motherfuckers, but with FACES and FIRE.
Halloween is a holiday that deserves as much time as you want to give it and I am going to be celebrating it until December 1st. In conclusion:
