Thanks, everyone, for a very interesting array of thoughts and suggestions!
It seems like there's maybe two basic questions:

1. What to do, and

2. Strategies for doing it.
I feel like, on the first question, we may not all be in the same place.

And/or we might like to think about where we are a bit. (We'd be bad, bad centrists otherwise.)
On the second question, it seems to me there are quite a broad range of opportunities for building support.

Just as one example, there's an effort underway by @UniteAmerica to elect independent candidates …
… with the idea that a few independents in congress can become the swing faction necessary to get anything done.

I'm currently opposed to said effort, because of Duverger's law and the spoiler effect.
But, but, but … …
If we switch to multi-member districts, with ranked choice voting, independents become a practical element in a healthy democracy.

So it seems to me the the @UniteAmerica folks have a natural (possibly powerful) interest in that reform.
This particular kind of reform appeals to centrists … but also to *anyone* not particularly well represented … which is perhaps most people, at this point.

The possibilities for coalitions are substantial, if not endless, and extend well beyond the middle of the spectrum.
I note that @Rob_Richie, the director of @FairVote has been on this thread.

If there's an interest among you guys, and maybe others, to discuss this further … I wonder if the @FairVote folks would be ok with us using the #FairVote hash tag to continue that discussion.
