1/ Tory Brexiteer @Jacob_Rees_Mogg should be happy - since the UK is soon going to leave the EU. But instead of being happy, he now insists that every sensible form or permutation of Brexit put forward is some kind of odious Betrayal of the British people. #Brexit
2/ The House of Commons’ Select Committee for Exiting the EU has suggested that if the UK Government is unable to achieve the form of Brexit it wants, then the Plan B should be to opt for a EFTA/EEA style Brexit. politico.eu/article/uk-bre…
3/ So Jacob shouldn't be too concerned - if he believes that Mrs May will actually achieve 'Plan A' then there is no problem. But his response to this report wasn't positive. It attacked the efta/EEA model.
4/ His arguments; such as they are, are shown below. We will address them. 
5/ Firstly, the 'Vassal state' argument. Firstly, as an EFTA state we would get our seat back at the WTO and other global bodies. Secondly, the EFTA/EEA countries follow a lot fewer 'EU rules' than we do:
6/ We would also have a say on those rules:
7/ the real 'vassal state' will be the UK for the 2 years following Brexit during which we will have to follow *ALL* EU rules and will have basically no input whatsoever.

9/ and while JRM hasn't mentioned it; what of immigration - that other common criticism of the 🇮🇸🇱🇮🇳🇴 option? We looked at that here:

11/ In summary then 1. the EFTA/EEA option is far better than it is being presented in the media. 2. The committee only suggested the efta/EEA option if Mrs May fails to achieve her negotiating objectives. Does @Jacob_Rees_Mogg believe she will? /End
