Are you mad at what's happening in our country?
Can't stand Señor Rojo?

What if I told you there's a way you can protect yourself, your family, your right to reunite with your family, while also making sure your community stays safe from this administration's attacks?
In 2014, there were approximately 8.9 million people eligible to become US citizens. That number has either held steady or probably gone up, given the increase in new green card holders since then.

Yet many people do not apply, even if they are eligible. There are a few reasons:
1. They don't know they're eligible.
2. It's expensive (total govt fees now $725)
3. They're afraid they don't speak English well enough.
4. They're afraid of the civics exam.
5. They think a green card is "good enough."
6. They feel they turn their backs on their home country.
None are good reasons not to apply *if you can.*

Most immigrant rights groups hold regular FREE citizenship workshops.
Volunteer lawyers will tell you whether you qualify.

There are programs to help with fees, but you can also request a fee waiver from USCIS on Form I-912.
These organizations can also help you find English classes so you can pass the tests. But I've found the problem usually isn't lack of English, it's lack of confidence. Going to these classes is a great confidence booster to get you past the tests!
And not everyone has to take the English tests! There are exceptions, depending on your age and how long you've had your green card.

I've met so many people who, if they became citizens, could have helped their family members avoid deportation. And it never happened and the family got deported because they didn't have the right information at the right time.
Filing for citizenship is the best way to protect the investment you've made in the United States. There is rarely reason not to apply if you are eligible. Most countries will allow you to retain your native citizenship if you become a US citizen. (There are some exceptions)
Being a US citizen means you have a say. Your rights are protected to the maximum. You get a wonderful, very powerful passport. You get to bring family members over. You never have to deal with USCIS again. You generally can't be deported.

And...
You can VOTE. You can use your voice for those who haven't one.

Take control of your life and protect what you've built. Become a US citizen if you are able.
