If you fell for the anti-immigrant rhetoric. If you believe that ‘benefit tourism’ is a problem. If you believe ‘health tourism’ is a problem. If you think we need to cut immigration to the ‘tens of thousands’. If you believe any of this, you’re part of the #Windrush problem.

If you believe Britain is ‘full’. If you think crime is on the rise because of immigration. If you think we need to check everyone’s immigration status at every opportunity. If you think immigrants are taking our jobs. Then you’re part of the #Windrush problem.

If you think we’re at ‘breaking point’. If you worry about people talking ‘foreign’ on trains. If you think people are right to be worried about foreigners moving into their street. Then you’re part of the #Windrush problem.

If you think ‘local culture’ has been damaged by immigration. If you think we’re full of illegal immigrants and shouldn’t trust anyone without checking their papers. Then you’re part of the #Windrush problem.

If you believe any of this. If you think these are ‘legitimate concerns’. If you support politicians who use this language, then as @DavidLammy hints, you’re lying down with dogs and have got fleas. You’re part of the #Windrush problem.

And, if we’re honest about it, there are a hell of a lot of people who are part of the problem. A hell of a lot who use this rhetoric - and a hell of a lot more who *accept* this language and this kind of politics.

All those politicians who supported the policies. All of those who voted for the Immigration Act 2014 - Tories and Lib Dems. All the Labour MPs who abstained on it. Columns in the Sun. Interviews in the Mail.

Nodding along with Farage on Question Time. Accepting his points as ‘legitimate’. That bloody mug!!! All of it is part of the same story. All of it is part of the #Windrush problem. End of rant.
