So @MichelBarnier is making case for a goods border in Irish sea.

- UK has agreed to respect IE place in Single Market.

- EU says all good entering NI "must comply" with rules of single market (ie checks)

- And notes SPS checks already exist "and everyone is fine with that"
I've not heard the Cion plan to 'fix' Ireland made so plainly by @MichelBarnier before.

Essentially making case for goods border in Irish Sea.

But we saw in December how quickly that inflamed Scotland issue /2
But if "English #Brexit" brings English frictions and Ireland has de facto SM membership, then how long before Scotland (which voted 62-38 remain) wants same.

Can't work in current political climate where things that might have once been smuggled through, no longer can. /3
Put another way, while denying EU wants to do anything to upset the "institutional order" of the UK - proposes a solution that does precisely that.
