Florida International University @FIU demands reporters delete and stop showing pictures they "unintentionally released" that show cracks in bridge 10 days before deadly collapse miamiherald.com/news/local/com…
Oops.
FOR CLARITY: @FIU wants everyone to STOP posting these pics & DELETE THEM IMMEDIATELY because they show cracks in the bridge 10 days before it collapsed & killed 6 people & they were accidentally released in a public records request. The one I posted above & this one as well.
Still getting lots of questions on this: these are the pics @FIU doesn't want us to share. I put them together in one tweet so we all understand.
It turns out @FIU has a deal with the NTSB to cover up these pics as well as other important public records related to the bridge collapse that they continue to withhold, so please STOP sharing them.
GUYS. These pics reveal that @FIU's construction and engineering team “discovered potentially problematic cracks in the bridge earlier than officials have previously acknowledged” so they DEFINITELY DON’T WANT US TO SHARE THEM: miamiherald.com/news/local/com…
“Three independent engineers who examined the photos, records and bridge blueprints concurred the cracks were a red flag signaling potentially critical structural problems.” So hopefully now you see why @FIU told us to STOP SHARING THEM.
Since this continues to be an issue, let me clarify once again: @FIU wants everyone to STOP posting the pics. Even individually. Not this one:
Or this one:
Thanks for the question, Dave. I’m happy to clarify. If you’re tweeting a pic of my warning not to post the pic with a pic of the pic in your pic, @FIU DOES NOT WANT YOU TO SHARE IT
As I said, @FIU wants us to stop sharing these pics individually, but they also don’t want us to post them together like this.
I didn’t wanna get legal, but since everybody is still posting them: @FIU attorney Eric Isicoff said these pics “were released in error and demanded reporters delete them from their computers” and “any hard copies that have been made also should be destroyed.” SO DO NOT RETWEET.
Good question, Ian, and thanks for following up. @FIU does NOT want us to post these pics, even if they're in black and white.
Accidents happen, Dave. As opposed to, say, negligence that leads to the death of six innocent people and any subsequent cover up. Which reminds me, @FIU wants you to TOTALLY DELETE these pics wherever they're saved and replace them with pics of your dog.
I didn't think this would require an entire thread, but now that we all know which pics @FIU does not want us to post. So please spread the word. Thanks!
