Joseph Schmitz's family history actually revolves around the Bushes.

His brother, John Schmitz, worked as Deputy Legal Counsel to Vice President H. W. Bush for three years, until 1989, when he then served President H. W. Bush as White House Deputy Counsel throughout his terms.

John Schmitz also helped Barbara Bush establish her Foundation For Family Literacy, and travelled with Barbara and George H. W. on tripes to Berlin and Point Alpha.

Now here comes the fun part - John Schmitz dated Columba's sister.

As in, Columba Bush, Jeb Bush's wife. In fact, that's how Jeb and Columba met.

Not only that, but John and Columba's sister, Lucila, are married.

So now instead of the Schmitz family, you actually have the Schmitz-Bush family.

As such, you'll now understand why Joseph Schmitz was probably chosen to become the Inspector General for the Department of Defense.

Joseph Schmitz, after he was done as an Inspector General, eventually set up shop in 2008 as Schmitz & Socarras LLP (which stopped functioning in April 2018).

His clients?

Representative Trent Franks and 45 other members of the House of Representatives.

Schmitz resigned from his Inspector General position in September 2005 while he was under investigation for stonewalling inquiries into Bush administration officials suspected of wrongdoing. The man leading this crusade? Grassley.

Also, Schmitz then left for a job at Blackwater.

More specifically, Schmitz became the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for the Prince Group, which was a firm that was divided between Prince Manufacturing in Michigan and Blackwater in North Carolina.

Apparently when Schmitz was working for AG Edward Meese in 1987, he was involved in the Contra issues, as Meese said Schmitz tried to "limit the damage", according to the book "Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army".

My point is this: You have Schmitz, with a ridiculous history tied into Reagan and the Bushes, being essentially a relative to the Bushes, who then goes into the campaign trails and... joins the Trump team instead of Jeb!'s team.

Not only that, but Schmitz then suddenly decides to visit the dark wbe, contact a source called "PATRIOT", then visited the FBI, the State Department and the Intelligence Community IG saying "Are these e-mails real? Are they legit?"

"He was relentless".

Baring in mind, this article essentially came out of nowhere from CNN. It was a random exclusive on April 7, 2018, which accomplished absolutely nothing.

My favourite sentence is this though, given what's been happening recently.

"Steve Bannon told the House Intelligence Committee in February that members of the Trump campaign 'kept getting approached' by outsiders suggesting ways to get Clinton's emails".

So I guess my question is:

Who approached Schmitz and told him to go and search for the e-mails on the dark web, then trick him into speaking with "PATRIOT"?

Was Schmitz going to the FBI part of the plan or was it a mess up and that's why we didn't hear about it until April?

I could easily be far off the mark, but I think Schmitz was approached and he fucked it up by going to the US Government, so they couldn't claim he was acting by himself or on behalf of the Russians, since Schmitz went directly to THEM "oh, I'm doing this, are these real?"
