Finally. My first #DigiByte update/AMA video is online. 🎉🥳🎊

There are huge news for $DGB, because several things happened in the recent months:

A small thread .. 🧵
The most time-consuming during the merge of 8.22 wasn‘t the merge itself. In fact I have been working several hundred hours to fix the functional tests and related issues in DigiByte Core. As I mentioned before, this is the first time we have working functional tests in #DigiByte
I wasn‘t very transparent with the progress because there was no end in sight when I completed almost half of them. Some really crazy and hard to debug bugs in DigiByte Core made it exceptionally difficult to fix some of the functional tests.

1/ Here is a video update on #DigiByte v8.22.0 as well an overview of the added complexities of core #blockchain protocol development. Short summary, we are working on it, this is most comprehensive upgrade ever for $DGB & we have ran into unforeseen bugs.
2/ When #Bitcoin first started it had 3,000 lines of code in 4 files. Currently $BTC core code has over 620,000 lines of code & DigiByte has over 700,000. In comparison the core Linux Kernel has only 63,000 lines of code. There is a massive amount of changes to review in 8.22.
3/ So far the DGB 8.22.0 upgrade has added +281,194 lines of code & removed −92,818 lines of code removed. This massive update to roughly half the DGB code base has led to some elusive bugs we are working through which has taken more time than expected.… Image

1/ If I had 10k $DGB for each time I was privately approached by very large & public groups to "buy" a controlling interest in #DigiByte I would be rich & DGB would have a $100 B+ mc. When I tell them DGB is truly decentralized & its not possible I never hear from them again.
2/ I can promise you many of the new "innovative" tokens that pop up over night promising epic visions of vaporware & all the sudden are worth billions are the same groups of insiders coordinating, paying so called "influencers" & paying kick backs to exchanges. Its disgusting.
3/ Most of the most prominent names in crypto don't give a flying f$ck about actual decentralization. Once they hear you are truly decentralized & they cannot control your blockchain they want nothing to do with it & work to suppress it.

🔹Hello #DigiByte Familly. Today we want to introduce you to our most recent project. An #OpenSource DigiByte #wallet. More details in our next thread! @DigiByteCoin @DGB_Foundation @DGBAT_Official @digiassetX @jaredctate (1/7)…
🔹This is a CLI wallet and it's intended for educational purposes, that's why it's coded in a very simple way. Also, it has been developed with #JavaScript in the #NodeJS platform and we used our DigiByteJS package. (2/7)…
🔹This is a standard compliant wallet, because we followed all the industry protocols such as BIP39 for mnemonic phrases, BIP32 for hierarchical deterministic derivations, BIP44, BIP49 and BIP84 for legacy, native and segwit addresses and Digi-ID authentication. (3/7)

1/ Please join the conversations for the newly proposed DigiByte Improvement Proposal (DIP) on GitHub and Gitter. The DIP is a formal standard for proposing any changes to the #DigiByte protocol modeled after Bitcoin's BIP process.……
2/ Introducing a framework for development improvements and enhancements for DigiByte will foster a collaborative environment critical for reaching consensus on critical changes to its core protocol.
3/ Anyone can submit a proposal. Once a proposal has been fine-tuned, it can be assigned a DIP number and published to the DigiByte GitHub DIPs repository. At this point, the DIP is official, but it is not yet approved or implemented.

#DigiByte Development Update Jan 4th, 2022:

While it may seem there is no progress in regards of DigiByte v8.22, the opposite is the case.

Why is it taking so long? Please allow me to explain.

🧵 1/7

This is by far the most complex merge that was ever done for the #DigiByte Core codebase.

1) $BTC developers have gone mad with their codebase, which is a very good sign. The code's structure and quality has risen immensely. Many new features and bugfixes were introduced.

2) We have to make 120% sure that the core features of DigiByte remain intact. We all want DigiByte's features such as DigiSpeed, DigiShield, MultiAlgo, etc. to stay perfect and bugfree.

Those are the things that make #DigiByte great 🔥
We can't afford introducing bugs.

1/ I believe that we will see a virus released on a #blockchain that actually brings it down in next year or two. Either by attacking select addresses & destroying faith in that chain. Or completely overloading the chain with tx bloat. Not likely w/ #DigiByte & #Bitcoin though.
2/ Imagine a virus in a smart contract that replicates itself via #NFTs & splits up a users balance to tiny transactions while replicating itself therefore adding trillions of txs to network in matter of hours grinding it to halt & burning all affected wallets funds at same time.
3/ This is the ultimate bloat attack. Also depending on the wallet a person uses. A trojan in a smart contract could send itself over the blockchain & whenever someone opens it it utilizes known OS exploits to download an external payload as well as draining a users funds.

1/ I never publicly talked about this because I didn’t want to be the one to seed bad ideas but now it’s been done. Due to the very broad attack surface of #Ethereum VM & solidity language it is very much possible to add #malware & #ransomeware to #NFT’s & smart contracts.
2/ This is one of the many reasons Satoshi removed many OP_CODEs originally added to #Bitcoin. Its also a reason we limited the initial release of #DigiByte #DigiAssets. Its a very real problem that will continue to grow as ecosystem grows.
3/ The truly terrifying part is not only can someone send you a booby trapped #NFT or #SmartContract that once you interact with can do any unknown number of things. But it can theoretically be done without your involvement.

1/ Contrary to the narrative put out by a few toxic people who want me dead or completely removed from anything #DigiByte… I have always stated any major changes to $DGB need to be data driven by hard facts & not speculative conjecture based on twisted delusions & ideas.
2/ A rushed, misguided & misinformed hard fork is the most dangerous thing which could ever be done to #DigiByte. A HF now will be 1000x harder than any in the past. I will always speak & act from a position of security & safeguarding the #blockchain.
3/ Anyone can propose a fact based PR for major changes. When this happens multiple people review it despite what some say. I in no way control anything or am a sole reviewer. But when I or others ask for more information & data & then have lies & misinformation spread about us

Next up in my #Cryptothoughts series, in which I take a closer look at some of the projects in the crypto/blockchain space that have me beyond bullish, is @DigiByteCoin. I've been a fan of this project for a long time, and a lot of that has to do with some of the minds 1/7
behind the scenes, like @jaredctate & @hanskoning. If you've never heard of the #DigiByte blockchain before, just know that there are a lot of different aspects to the project that make up the whole, from the #DigiByte coin (the ultimate merchant coin) & the #Digi-ID 2/7
authentication system to the tokenized DigiAssets. Name any single niche that has emerged out of the broader cryptocurrency space over the past several years & you'll find the DigiByte team hard at work making those concepts even better, particularly when it comes to #DeFi. 3/7

1/ A Gov forced power outage in 1 province in China took out 40% of $BTC hash power & led to the highest (16 min) #bitcoin #block time intervals since 2009 & highest ever tx fees ($40+). There is a BTC difficulty adjustment bug. It's not a feature. BTC chain at 60% capacity now.
2/ We know this for a fact because the same diff adjust code was originally in #DigiByte & #Dogecoin. Sudden hash drops caused $DGB chain to completely freeze for 7 hours & $DOGE to freeze for 2 days in 2014. Numerous chains have all fixed this. $DGB pioneered the fix.
3/ Just calculated last 20 #bitcoin blocks still averaging 16 minutes. Meaning those Chinese miners are still offline for almost 4 days. We would see 7-9 min average if they were back online. This story runs deeper. Something up in China.

1/4 DigiByte Price Thread. I’ve Seen a few people getting annoyed that there's been no $DGB price movement these last few days and commenting that the #DigiByte price is being artificially suppressed…

On this date 1 year ago:
$BTC = $6920
$ETH = $159
$LTC = $40
$DGB = $0.0055
3/4 Today:
$BTC = $63466
$ETH = $2286
$LTC = $272
$DGB = $0.082

That’s an increase of:
$BTC = 817%
$ETH = 1329%

$DGB = 1391%
