First of all, consuming illicit substances from the black market comes with huge risks: unknown dosage and purity, the presence of unexpected (potentially dangerous!) adulterants, and the constant influx of new, unresearched chemicals. #DrugChecking directly combats these risks.
But what exactly is drug checking?

1) Kaum Fortschritte bei der #Substitution, vor allem nicht bei der #Originalstoffsubstitution. Auch in den Gefängnissen (sogar dem vor der Haustür) sieht es schlecht aus. Tödliche Überdosen steigen Jahr für Jahr, obwohl die #Drogen per se kaum tödlich wirken.
2) Alle 3 Minuten wird in Deutschland jemand wegen #Cannabis kriminalisiert, obwohl jede(r) 3. Bürger:in schon Erfahrungen damit hat. Unkosten betragen ca. 2,66 Mrd. € jährlich. Schon 3 Gerichte weigerten sich diesen Irrsinn so weiterzumachen: Bernau, Münster und Pasewalk.
#Drugchecking: #Thüringen hat die Lösung! Drugchecking ermöglicht die Untersuchung von Drogen auf ihre Wirkstoffe - und verhindert so Drogennotfälle durch ungewollte Überdosierungen. Durch einen Clou konnte jetzt ein Pilotprojekt in Thüringen starten.

Zunächst hat die Partei die Probleme des Schwarzmarkts erkannt und im #Wahlprogramm zur #BTW21 die Legalisierung von #Cannabis niedergeschrieben. Merkt euch mal den Satz bzgl. „zu hoch angesetzte Steuer“ und wofür das Geld dann zukünftig eingesetzt werden soll.

Schauen wir kurz auf das @fdp-Handeln im Bundestag. Am 29.10. wurde über das #CannKG abgestimmt (DS 19/23606). Alles ist besser als die #Prohibition. Es war auch keine symbolische Zustimmung drin? @fdpbt enthielt sich. Die Gründe? Eher fadenscheinig, als wirklich begründet.

We tested a total of 456 samples. This
shows an increased uptake of testing from the prior quarter, where we only tested 269 samples. This increase was seen across every drug category. Find our first two quarterly reports here:

Adulteration with other notable components was highest for samples expected to be methamphetamine (29%), cocaine HCl or base (21%), opioid - down (17%) or dissociative (16%), demonstrating the volatility of the illicit drug supply which continues to be impacted by prohibition.

Imagine wanting a Caramilk, but when you bite into it, it's an Aero. No juicy liquid center, just air pockets, kind of sucks right? Now imagine ingesting what you think is cocaine, only to find out it's actually ketamine, and all of a sudden you're in for an unexpected ride /2
The point is, there is often no reliable way of knowing what's in the drugs we consume. Sometimes we get the treat we're expecting, other times, we get tricked. Drug checking is one way of providing some quality control in the illicit drug market. /3
