A few quick thoughts on my #BJJ journey from #purpletobrown.
My gym in #Budapest has a culture of leg hunting, esp in no gi. They frequently catch me with knee bars and even heel hooks. (The latter are forbidden at most gyms until brown as they are *incredibly* dangerous.)

I’ve had to change up my game and be incredibly mindful of where I place my feet. This is good, but I find myself defending my legs at the expense of trying to take top. I’ve not yet figured out a way to balance leg defense from relentless leg hunters while trying to guard pass.
On another note. I finally figured out why I kept vomiting after my workouts. I couldn’t find just filtered water so I’ve been drinking mineral water. It was literally making me sick.

There's a sub-sub genre of video on YouTube of #bjj classes getting punked by experienced practitioners disguising themselves as white belts and then defeating everyone. 1/3
It sounds like a good idea, but the problem is that skill in BJJ is instantly recognizable to the initiated, so the deception is either obvious to everyone rolling with these people, 2/3
or the folks getting punked are such beginners that they can't tell the difference. And for the viewer, neither of these outcomes is particularly entertaining. 3/3

Spinal cord injury may result in paralysis or symptoms such as chronic pain. Current research has not yet provided us with an answer to effectively treat or reduce these outcomes. While the initial injury to the spinal cord causes obvious damage, it does not stop there.
Cells continue to die after the initial injury, in a process called secondary damage. This 2* damage prevents recovery, and as more cells die, more connections are severed in the spinal cord. The ‘acid sensing ion channel 1a’ (ASIC1a) receptor is heavily involved in this process.

The master smiled nodding his head slowly. "Impressive. Let's take a walk," he said as he headed towards the nearby mountain.
Up they climbed all afternoon. The master said nothing. The young challenger grew more curious.

They finally reached a deep chasm with an old fallen tree acting as a natural bridge. The master calmly strode to the middle of the log, called a distant tree as his target, took aim, and let the arrow fly.
