Excuse me, who's the abuser here, Oprah?

1. My take on #LeavingNeverland - Was #MichaelJackson a sexual predator?

A THREAD:
2. They say "High trees catch the most wind" - Real stars will always attract attention, also of the negative kind (from envy to death threats).

They also say "where there's smoke, there's fire".

Both apply to Michael, but the second saying more so!

#LeavingNeverland
3. Michael was a great artist and a great performer, but by 1986/1987 he started to grow more freakish: Bleatching his skin (not just Vitiligo), rhinoplasties until his nose almost disappeared, fake marriage to Lisa Marie Presley (1993), when the first abuse-case started!

I'm going to deconstruct the Hadley Freeman article, paragraph by paragraph, to highlight what White mediocrity in the media looks like.

Imagine getting paid to write this!

#LeavingNeverland
Headline: Michael Jackson was probably the most scrutinised American citizen of the 20th century.

He was found "Not Guilty" 14 times during his life. He was NOT an "abuser." Regardless of how many times they'll tell you.
Paragraph 1: Michael Jackson was, also, the most transparent of celebrities. He never shied away from talking about his unconventional lifestyle. Such a "criminal mastermind."

Barbra Streisand HAS NOT defended Michael Jackson.

I guess, more than anything, here's what bothers me about people's comments about #LeavingNeverland, Robson and Safechuck: they lived it. You weren't there. You can make judgments ALL you want, but it means NOTHING. It's not your life.
As any childhood sexual abuse (#CSA) survivor will tell you, we're used to not being believed. We're used to people dismissing and minimizing us. We build up our defenses because, in truth, our healing only depends on us, not anyone else's validation.
Y'all think what you say is important, what with your studying of this file and that report. So continue telling these young men or other survivors you don't believe them.

We'll continue to heal without your approval, input, and commentary, thanks.

When Michael Jackson's family launched their civil claim against AEG Live regarding his unlawful death, AEG Live's lawyer Marvin Putnam claimed, in his opening argument, that they would reveal "some ugly stuff."

#LeavingNeverland
A week later, Wade Robson claimed that Michael Jackson had abused him. After claiming, for decades, the complete opposite.

#LeavingNeverland
A week after that, Wade Robson went on the Today Show to make his claims public.

Thread: The 1994 Civil Settlement.
#leavingneverland #MJInnocent #FactsDontLiePeopleDo
Michael Jackson and the Chandlers reached an out of court settlement, in January 1994 which only resolved the CIVIL SUIT and to proceed with the criminal case; to preserve a fair criminal trial in court!
Firstly, one cannot settle a criminal case. So people, stop using the vague argument 'he paid his way out of prison'. A criminal proceeding & a trial, only can send a perpetrator to jail, not a civil trial which only results in a monetary restitution.

Helpful info on grooming from @CHILD_USA:

1. Child sex abusers “groom” their child victims. Child sex abusers are patient and cunning, and often the “nice guys” you want your kids to spend time with. Often generous, fun activities, cash, candy,

#SexAbuseChat
jewelry, special clothing, trips, adopting endearing nicknames, telling the children he/she “loves” them and their families, and other special treatment. Telling children that sex abuse is how they show “love” to each other. Using showers, alcohol #SexAbuseChat
and pornography to lower defenses. Telling children that God means for them to be together. Having mock wedding ceremonies complete with clothing and rings. #SexAbuseChat

I watched #LeavingNeverland. Sad to see people don’t believe the featured accusers. That being said, can we all agree grown adults shouldn’t be sleeping in the same bed as children that aren’t theirs? I stopped supporting Jackson when he admitted to that in 2003. It wasn’t hard.
I muted Michael Jackson after noticing how his tendencies echo grooming and after he admitted to sleeping in the same bed as kids that aren’t his— way before #LeavingNeverland.

Maybe it’s time we reflect on behavior that shouldn’t of been publicly condoned in the first place.
If you’re defending Michael Jackson, you’re going to get blocked. For me, this isn’t about debating over whether or not #LeavingNeverland is factual, it’s about staying consistent with condemning inappropriate behavior from adults that could’ve potentially put children in danger.

Point of #LeavingNeverland is not, as some think, whom you believe; nor guilt or innocence. The point is how hundreds of parents, promoters, friends, entourage, domestic or tour staff failed to raise any alarm about a 30yo man who habitually took strangers’ children to his bed.
This fact is NOT in dispute. I mean I know it was thirty years ago, but how the hell does this happen? Ever.
In myths about magic and vampire folklore, there is always an enchantment or special power for influencing mortals, putting them in a trance so they become obedient. And it’s usually called a “glamour spell”. I can’t get that thought out of my head, watching #LeavingNeverland.

as a child sex abuse survivor, I know feeling of being horrified anyone would find out uncle was making me do "things" with him. If my dad had asked me I would have defended my uncle coz my mum told me dad would kill her brother and he'd go to jail (i told her) #LeavingNeverland
So as a kid when I was diagnosed as "nervous" and started pulling out bits of my hair and hiding it, dad found all the hair clumps under my bed and asked me to tell him what was wrong. I stayed silent. I was scared of what would happen #LeavingNeverland
I developed classic self esteem issues and my mum loved her brother (both are dead now btw) I defended my uncle and lied about what he was doing when a doctor diagnosed a urine infection when i was 9 and i lied #leavingnetherland

The internet allowed for wide sharing and collaboration on unconventional theories. However often lacking were exhibits/proofs with clear sourcing/provenance. This is where I think documentaries add value: lining up hard to forge, credible sources who corroborate each other.
The reactions on #LeavingNeverland (I haven't seen it yet) got me thinking on the value of documentaries. It appears to be convincing the general public, something that the books on the matter (who apparently often had a similar thesis) didn't succeed in.
Of course the power of documentaries are a double edged sword. Cherry picked sources and editing can twist or obfuscate the truth. One example that comes to mind are the documentaries on Kurt Cobain, who afaik have defended opposite theories which means that some must manipulate.

Journalists expressing outrage over child sex abuse in Hollywoood after watching #LeavingNeverland need to start doing their own work on this important issue

We have plenty of leads and our DM is open
Same journalists won’t write anything to expose convicted child rapists like Shane Sparks & Joel Iwataki who STILL work in Hollywood around minors ON CURRENT PROJECTS TODAY
Same journalists who won’t confront @sagaftra over why it won’t revoke union membership for convicted child molesters

Alright, sitting down to watch this. I'll let you know what I think.

Whew, a lot to say so far, but the part where he gives the kid the jacket from the "Thriller" video. Holy shit.
If you're a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, this is probably going to be triggering. Really no other way to describe it. It's real, and it's painful.

1. Doesn’t it seem like Oprah is suddenly going out of her way to trash Michael Jackson? Notice how they made a point to report that Oprah was watching the #LeavingNeverland documentary with David Geffen (who is one of the most powerful men in Hollywood)
2. Oprah's buddy David Geffen is connected to Paul Mccartney & other Beetles. Geffen was the one who released John Lennon's albums. David Geffen also ran with Michael Jackson HEAVY in the 80's and 90's. MJ even said Geffen was one of his best friends. So why did they turn on MJ?
3. People like Paul McCartney was cool with Michael Jackson at first. That was until MJ bought the beetle's publishing, then as Paul says here, "it wasnt funny anymore". Many of these people were extremely vindictive towards MJ since then

THREAD: #LeavingNeverland heavily features this "grooming" theme. The definition of grooming is:
What the film does is that it manipulatively takes every kind and generous gesture and every gift by Jackson out of context in order to try to turn them into something more sinister. #LeavingNeverland
We learn about “love letters” to James and “love faxes” to Wade, which in reality are completely innocent notes and letters with no indication of Jackson’s interest in these children being sexual/romantic.

Here's what the press and media are NOT telling you about the Michael Jackson 'documentary' #LeavingNeverland:

Both men making accusations against Michael Jackson are financially motivated, self-confessed liars and perjurers.

Ask yourself why you're not being told that.
Wade Robson *only* remembered being 'abused' when he was dropped from an official Michael Jackson tribute 5 years after his death. Jimmy Safechuck *only* remembered when Wade remembered.

They then tried to sue the MJ Estate for multiple-millions of dollars. With the same lawyer!
Their case was thrown out of court with the judge saying "there's no way anybody can take this seriously"

They have appealed.

So they have a MASSIVE financial motive in convincing people Michael Jackson molested them.

Even after denying he did any such thing while UNDER OATH.

So basically everyone who wrote their tweets about #LeavingNeverland all use the same words like “Compelling, Powerful, Brave, Just watch the film”. Instead of providing actual facts. Then ignore our tweets. Even more proof that they’re under a paid script too. This is ridiculous
