Dems controlled every leverage of power in DC & still didn't pass MedicareForAll.

California Dems had a supermajority & could pass whatever they wanted AND universal healthcare was LITERALLY written in their platform.

They killed state MedicareForAll.

And I'll add that in CA it was right when Trump was trying to repeal the ACA. So instead of protecting their constituents, they intentionally killed it in committee. Had Trump repealed ACA, #SB562 would not only have saved countless lives here, but it'd be an example nationally.
This is why "Any Blue Will Do" is BS. This is why moderates aren't allies. This is why I don't trust someone just because they say they support Medicare4All. This is why I don't trust Warren. She didn't back Bernie when it mattered & she's new to backing M4A. Too much is at stake

Let's see which retweet bots are super excited about the third Democratic presidential debate. #ThursdayThoughts

@ZellaQuixote A duo of extremely similar real estate bots (@RealtorFairfax and @FairfaxVAAgent) were the first two automated accounts to retweet the preceding tweet. Based on a brief jaunt through their timelines, they seem more focused on retweeting political hashtags than real estate.
@ZellaQuixote @RealtorFairfax @FairfaxVAAgent The third bot retweet comes to us courtesy of @BernieBot_2020, which retweets various Sanders-related hashtags (#Bernie2020, #FeelTheBern, #NotMeUS, and #NoMiddleGround.) We've run across it before.

From this article- "About one-third of current Medicare enrollees are covered through Medicare Advantage."

From same publisher in another piece abt MA- "Insurance companies continue to promote MA plans heavily because of their great profitability."
"Medicare Advantage"

What is the 'advantage' in Medicare Advantage?
How does this 'advantage' come about?
Who holds the 'advantage'?

Insurance companies continue to promote MA plans heavily because of their great profitability (to the ins co, of course).

"Although these companies take in a tremendous amount of taxpayer money, and have immense power regarding how to distribute these funds, a cloud of secrecy shields from public view their financial operations and profitability."

Kremlin media outlets Sputnik and RT recently got de-invited to the International Conference on Media Freedom and some folks ain't happy. #WednesdayWisdom

cc: @ZellaQuixote
We downloaded tweets from the last 10 days containing "media", "freedom", and "RT" or "Sputnik" and filtered out a couple of early false positives. 9.4% of tweets are automated (average for most datasets of this sort is roughly 3%).
The first on-topic tweet about RT/Sputnik being barred from the conference came from @BotsPutin, which probably isn't a bot although many of the other early accounts to tweet about the subject are in fact automated (mostly newsbots linking custom collections of news sites.)

We started looking at automated activity (and potentially other aspects of) tweets containing various #<candidate first or last name>2020 hashtags (e.g., #Warren2020, #Kamala2020, #Bernie2020, etc.) We examined tweets from Jan 1st - July 3rd, 2019.

cc: @ZellaQuixote
Looking more closely at the 2020 hashtags that have both a significant percentage (we used 10% as a cutoff, 3%-ish is average) of automated activity and at least 1000 tweets, we see sizable volume for tweets posted via VK (Russian Facebook-esque social network.) What's the deal?
The VK activity in the 2020 hashtags comes from 21 very similarly-named accounts. Account names are the display name with "Im" prepended (e.g., "Alberta Swift" = "@ImAlbertaSwift.) All tweets were posted via VK, and none tweeted before 2018 (despite some being created in 2015.)

There's a misconception going around that Bernie is too leftist to win...lemme debunk that real quick.
GOPers call everything that isn't wildly right winged socialist. You could run a Dem with Ronald Reagan's policy & they'd get called the second coming of Karl Marx...
That said, Americans want certain policies enacted to make their lives easier and more enjoyable. For example, over 70% of Americans support Medicare for all...& over 50% of REPUBLICANS support it.

.@BernieSanders is currently delivering a speech on democratic socialism at George Washington university. It cam be watched live here.
So far Sanders has emphasized the polarization of American politics - with oligarchy on the one side and various movements for democracy on the other
Sanders: Three families control more than half of wealth in America and 49% of all new income generated today goes to the top 1%. Income and wealth inequality are now higher than they've been since the 1920s.
