En muchas ocasiones he escuchado a gente decir que las enfermedades mentales no se ven, o que no se nota cuando alguien la está pasando mal. Yo creo que no es así.
Personalmente, he pasado por momentos complicados en los que mi salud mental corre riesgo, y también he acompañado a personas pasando por situaciones complejas, y aunque quizá no contaban con un diagnóstico concreto, definitivamente su salud mental estaba en riesgo, y se notaba.

A nuestro alrededor hay mucha gente peleando batallas que no vemos, con las muchas o pocas herramientas que tengan a la mano; y nuestra manera de lidiar con sus contextos (aunque los desconozcamos) puede generar mucho en esas vidas.
Alguien que contempla el suicidio, es una persona que sufre mucho, tanto, que cree que la mejor manera de salir de sus circunstancias es a través de la muerte..
Now that #wspd has passed, I would like for all of us to ask ourselves: how do we treat those suffering with mental illness, addiction, or contemplating suicide?
We encourage people to speak up and ask for help, yet we continue to implicitly shame, blame, and roll our eyes when it comes to the topic of mental health unless it affects us personally.
We design systems where people have to be in their worst possible state before they can access help, and when they tell us they’re thinking about it suicide we use coercive approaches to detain them and lock them in wards that dehumanize them.
~3 yrs ago I lost a dear friend to #suicide, I still cannot speak about it without feeling deep, unfathomable pain, but I know hers must have been unbearably greater.

1/n Before leaving for hospital, I made my first post on #WorldSuicidePreventionDay as I have strong belief and do practice that #suicidalthoughts_Medical_Emergency
2/n On reaching hospital, saw first patient in emergency who tries to harm herself due to hanging..somehow saved by family member. My first tweet of the day comes into my mind. Patient required admission. Decision was taken to admit for #SuicidePrevention..first step of treatment

Sebuah hari peringatan tidak datang dari kesenangan, ia datang dari perjuangan. Peringatan bahwa masih ada nyawa yg melayang, walau dapat kita perjuangkan utk dicegah. Peringatan bhw kita tidak hendak perpanjang hidup yg menderita, namun mengubah hidup jadi lebih layak dihidupi.
Sebuah hari peringatan tidak datang dari perayaan dan kebahagiaan, ia datang dari keprihatinan dan kesadaran untuk terus menerus berjuang. Peringatan untuk kita semua mengemban tanggungjawab dan peran masing2 demi perubahan yang lebih baik, demi hidup yang layak dihidupi.

June 5th, 2017 I tried to take my own life.
And I'm sharing this because fuck me this shit is important.
If this saves one life, it's worth it.
