A Russian rocket has hit critical infrastructure causing a big fire right now.

Power and internet connection are down in many districts.

People have been injured in the night attack on #Zaporizhzhia, but no deaths reported.

Houses have been damaged as well as the city's infrastructure.

A video is just in from the scene of tonight's rocket strike in #Zaporizhzhia.

Emergency services are on site. Early indications are no one has been killed in the strike by #Russia.

Things get increasingly tough for #Ukraine in #Donetsk

The map is from TG channel DeepState. The 3 towns I've circled from N➡️S are #Soledar #Pidhorodne + #Bakhmut
The first 2 are now occupied. Pidhorodne is just 300m from north Bakhmut and Russians reported to be there now.

Back to the rocket blast in #Zaporizhzhia now.

Two children aged 9 and 15 are injured along with one adult. All are hospitalised.

Engineers are working to restore power.

A member of the notorious #Wagner group has made a daring escape across rivers + deep snow.

The unnamed man crossed the barbed wire fence, evading shots fired by #Russia security agents, to reach safety in #Norway and is willing to give legal testimony.

Southern Command says it hit 5 Russian bases in #Kherson + #Zaporizhzia regions, with hits in #Henichesk #Melitopol + #Berdyansk. Often I write about blasts in Occupied areas but we only see confirmation later

I'm completely perplexed by the British report today.

They claim Ukraine maintained positions in #Soledar up to yesterday and then say you need uncommitted troops 😵‍💫

Journalists in #Oklahoma say this plane is carrying around 100 #Ukrainian service men and women, arriving for training on the Patriot air defence system.

To show what a long battle everyone is expecting now, training is designed to last six months or more.

After analysis of the weekend strikes on #Kyiv, it's confirmed #Russia is using the S-400 air defence system as an attacking weapon.

Experts studied the remains of this 48N6DM missile, newly designed for the S-400, It has a range of about 230km/145 miles.

Anti-Putin protests planned for 21 January 21. Alex says this will happen in many cities to mark the 2nd anniversary of opposition politician Alexey @Navalni's arrest in Moscow.

More shelling in #Kherson. Among the latest places damaged by #Russia is another hospital. Thankfully the regional children's hospital was empty at the time and no injuries

In the Dnipro district of the city, enemy shells hit an apartment building and a boarding school building.

In occupied #Donetsk a shopping centre has been hit.

It happened in the Kalininsky district. Two apartment complexes were also damaged in the blast.

You may have read that @ChelseaFC paid €100m for #Ukraine striker Mykhailo Mudryk, seen here with his new shirt.

Now owner of @FCShakhtar, Rinat Akhmetov says €25m of the fee will be given to the 'Heart of Azovstal' project, helping 🇺🇦 soldiers and families of the fallen.

In #Soledar, it seems #Russia is still suffering casualties even though #Ukraine has retreated just outside the town.

They say 3 bases of the Occupiers were affected: although the time stamp is ok, I cannot verify this footage.

As well as weapons, #Ukraine does still need money to survive and support its population, not least the fighters and those affected by the war.

The alliance is still strong and must remain so. It's an investment in the future of the safety of all of us.

Chair of @OSCECiO Bujar Osmani has been detailing his return to #Kyiv. The 9 hour train journey brought him back to #Ukraine's capital.

Gas prices plunged again today.

One index, the ICE exchange saw a 15% fall today alone. Gas is now trading at just over $600 per 1,000 cubic metres, the lowest since August 2021.

UK consumers won't benefit much until the summer as gas suppliers had to buy in advance of winter.

An MP in #Ukraine has called for the resignation of Presidential adviser @arestovych

Like many, Oleksii @GoncharenkoUa is outraged over the 'mistake' Arestovych made over the cause of the #Dnipro tragedy.

Explosions in occupied #Berdyansk today

This is being reported by some media as having only just happened. However, I understand the blasts in the port town in #Zaporizhzhia were in the early hours this morning

This evening the collaborator "Head" of #Russia's occupied part of #Zaporizhzhia admitted the blasts, giving no further details.

These photos have been circulating online of damage on vul.Kabelnyky but the cctv footage looked like a bigger strike to me.

As a journalist, in my opinion it's not a story.
The guy didn't admit anything. He used derogatory terms but most Ukrainians use as bad for Russians (and understandably so!)

A big explosion in #Khartsyzsk just east of #Donetsk city tonight in the occupied territory.

The Occupiers seem to be saying a furniture shop has been hit, but I could be wrong.
