Today,we launch a coding & innovation development centre,Kids Innovation Hub,to empower rehabilitated street children & young people from low-economic backgrounds with digital skills.We thank you our friends & partners for your support & faith in the children #CreatingTheFuture
Through the Kids Innovation Hub, we are giving underrepresented children the opportunity to participate in the new digital world.We know they would be left behind unless there are social initiatives deliberately aimed at giving them a chance. #CreatingTheFuture #KidsCode
As the ability to interpret information & solve problems using technology becomes one of the most valuable skills in the world of work,we believe our empowerment drive for the class of children we serve would be inadequate if it does not equip then with technology skills.
Beyond providing tangible empowerment for the children, we also believe that the learning of programming will improve their overall intellectual development. #KidsInnovationHub #CreatingTheFuture #KidsCode

1/Children & young people with autism and learning disabilities who could be living in the community with specialist support are languishing for years in Assessment & Treatment Units, some of them locked up 24/7 in isolation rooms, bec of severe financial pressure on Local Auths
2/ At the same time, private providers running these ATUs are raking in profits, being paid £452m per yr in what has become a market driven provision where autistic and LD people are little more than commodities
3/ This in spite of the fact that caring for them in the community would be far less expensive not to mention far better for the individuals concerned, their quality of life, their security and safety and their wellbeing

Today the LGBTI+ National Youth Strategy 2018-2020 launched. It’s the world's first, and the culmination of a year and a half of work. I chaired the oversight committee. There are 59 actions. It's hard to capture all of them on Twitter, but let me tell you about some.
Implement LGBTI+ training for service providers including; school principals, teachers, guidance counsellors, boards of management, family resource centres, judiciary, legal services, traveller service providers, disability service providers, employers, sports bodies, and more.
Reinstate the role of LGBTI+ liaison officers in an Garda Síochána with a minimum of two trained officers in every Garda division.

Today's @BV post is about why college helps the poor, but may also raise inequality. bloomberg.com/view/articles/…
The post discusses the findings of @TimBartik and my old classmate Brad Hershbein (research.upjohn.org/up_workingpape…).

They find that people of all backgrounds have a college earnings premium, though it varies from group to group.
College is especially important for black people.

Most surprising stat from the paper: Black people from low-income backgrounds who go to college tend to earn far MORE than white people from low-income backgrounds who go to college!
