Made worse by the fact that these machines are driven by bankers that no longer know the value of anything.
They deride bitcoin and hard money, while at the same time promoting a broken and corrupt system that helps no one but themselves.

1/ @Medium promotes articles from token sale scams to their front page and editor's picks, helping a group of scumbags make money at their readers' expense. That gets a pass. As long as the narrative is full of virtue, that's all that matters.
2/ Any articles about actual freedom? "You're scum get f ck d." The prevailing Silicon Valley worldview hates bitcoin and hates freedom. They want to set the agenda, they want to set the tone. They want to define "good" and then make everyone else live by it.
3/ Their mission is to shepherd (socially engineer) their users into a world view of big government, endless welfare, surveillance-solves-everything, disarmed and detoothed, man vs woman, black vs white, young vs old, arbitrary ambiguous “hate” as the ultimate sin.

1/ “Fiat may not be great as store of value, but it has done great as a medium of exchange, no? Anyway, money needs to be a good enough store of value to make people want it, but a bad enough store of value that people don't want it too long.”
2/ I’d give fiat a C+ for medium of exchange. It’s certainly more convenient than transferring gold within the boundaries of a jurisdiction. It’s mostly useless for anyone elsewhere in the world, and is subject to extreme friction for cross border trade.
3/ Fiat is also heavily censored, making it difficult to move, even for legit business. This problem is getting increasingly worse.

1/ Bitcoin or an altcoin’s fixed supply is far more than simply its code. The key is *how easy* this variable is to change.

One of the best things that I did? I went to the opera 💃! Y'all, did you know there's opera in Lagos? And I don't mean 'good enough for Lagos' opera. I mean, proper, 'beautiful, well-trained instruments', opera! I watched #DonGiovanni at the #MusonCenter.
I also loooved Fela's Shrine. I actually went twice; on the day I arrived & again for #Felabration2018. You guys, it was so much fun! I ended up abandoning my people and going up front to dance with the King!

1. Debate over the Electoral College is typically driven by liberals resentful of the fact that the Democratic Party would have won four of the last five elections had winning the popular vote been all that was necessary. As it is, it has won two of five.
2. Less attention is paid to a couple of things I want to talk abt today. One is the EC offers opportunity to foreign powers to violate our sovereignty. Our republic functions on trust. That trust springs from knowledge that the people chose our fates by choosing our leaders.
3. But with a presidency decided by margins in states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, all that’s needed is blasting the electorates of those states with all manner of lies, propaganda and bad faith.

Recently finished “Living Life Backward” and immediately started to gift it. It’s a reflection on Ecclesiastes, part of the wisdom literature of the Bible and one of my favorite/frequent reads. Here are my top highlights/notes.

No one gets out of this life alive. Pretending otherwise warps reality by degrading the present.

There are no lasting monuments. The “cosmic merry-go-round” of “constant motion without lasting achievement" will carry on without me.

{thread} Back in the day we had Usenet, dev .plan files, places like Compuserve, AOL, Delphi, CIX/BIX etc. These were places you go to find fluffy breasted nerds in their natural habitat. They were also the only places where you could find anything meaningful about technology.
It was the time when seeing a console window was enough to induce an epileptic shock, long enough to discourage you from typing anything into that Black ominous screen.
It was a time when we would argue about DOS vs MS-DOS, OS/2 (I worked on that btw) vs Windows, Bill Gates vs your mom's last boyfriend, and the merits of a floppy vs Iomega Zip drive.

It was a time of much hilarity and nerd dominance.
