This thing on Twitter I find baffling.

You disagree with a tweet. But rather than attack the idea or concept you don't agree with, you attack the person who tweeted.

So, she won't take off her nose ring to please the prospective in-laws she's meeting for the first time.....
So what?

That's her choice.

Saying she'll be in Shiloh or look for pastors to pray for her to get married in future is stupid. And quite myopic.

If you have a valid reason why she should take it off, by all means share it.

If I were asked, I'd say to the lady....
...pick your battles. Losing a piece of jewelry or two in order to temporarily impress will take nothing from you.

As long as your partner is cool with it and you intend to continue wearing it afterwards.

However, also know that as there's a partner for every person who....
...desires, so are there in-laws.

I have dressed the way a former suitor's parents preferred. Only to be disqualified because I'm Ibibio.

Never mind his father who insisted on referring to me as Omo Igbo.

Or was it my friend who was told to dress accordingly and was....
...accused by her prospective in-laws of faking it to gain their approval.

Or is it the one whose mother rejected me because her brother chose to marry a Calabar woman against the family's advice. Juju, they said.

I was blamed for it, unborn as I was when it happened😂
All of these in spite of my world class best impression.

I've met another's mum who loved me right off the bat, no reason needed.

When I asked why they were so accepting, his Mum said that they'd raised their son right and trusted that his upbringing to help him choose right.
I get her desire to be herself from the get-go. These people are different from bosses who may never see you in casual clothes.

These ones will come to your home and accuse you of how wearing trousers after fraudulently gaining their approval.
They'll talk about how you now married their son and "changed", when you've always been or dressed that way.

Just take a comprehensive look at the situation, make your decision and be ready for whatever reaction comes.
Because in the long run, your best appearance, on or off, the nose ring may not matter.

Lastly guys, honestly!!!!
It's 2018. Let's stop using singlehood as an insult on women for making certain choices.

Even if they're saying it to sound woke. It really is silly. Don't do it.
