Let's talk about this tweet.
That figure apparently comes from an op-ed at The Hill by Ron Martinelli, "a nationally renowned forensic criminologist and law enforcement expert." He writes:
On the face of it, it's ridiculous to think that 37% of murders were committed by undocumented immigrants. But those figures from Martinelli are laughably wrong.
I looked at the GAO report last week for something else.

The homicide total is accurate -- but it is for a period from 1955 to 2010. Also it deals with "criminal aliens," a group that includes both immigrants in the country legally and illegally.
Here's part of the letter to Steve King (who badly misrepresented these data back in 2005) in which that's made clear. washingtonpost.com/news/politics/…
Again: The figure doesn't even come close to passing the smell test.

Earlier today, Kirk was at an event at the White House. Trump gave him a shout out.
(I'll note here that I don't believe these homicide figures are meant to be comprehensive. Most of the data is from after 1990, the report indicates.)
