Sum. of Dr.@Susanrosepower’s comments (Head of Research @alhaq_org) on the consequences of ICJ advisory opinion & #state_responsibility, during our webinar:On the Table of the ICJ: The Legality/Illegality of #Israeli_Occupation &the Subsequent Int’l Responsibility
Article 14 of the Draft articles on Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts state that the international #obligations on a state committing a continuing crime arise only for the period during which the act continues.
According to IL Commission, an example of continuing unlawful act is unlawful occupation . Therefore, #Israel is responsible for the consequences of the #occupation as long as it continues, even if it was deemed to be an act of self-defence initially.

⚖🌐 Is #climatechange on its way to the world's highest court?

A 🧵 on one of the most important pieces of #strategiclitigation one one of the world's most pressing issues.

#internationallaw #internationalaffairs #climatechange #InternationalCourtofJustice #negotiation
This week, Vanuatu and fifteen other nations circulated a draft #UnitedNations #GeneralAssembly #UNGA resolution requesting an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice relating to the obligations of States in respect of climate change.
This is an important development in a process that I've written about before:…

A few key points of note in the draft resolution:

1/ In 2008, @US_FDA phased out #albuterol inhalers w/ ozone-depleting CFCs, including several generics.

Since then, brand-name firms have reaped $14 billion in sales on albuterol products--though the active ingredient went off #patent in 1989!…

2/ The first #albuterol inhalers came to the market in 1981.

By the mid-1990s, inexpensive generics had become available.
3/ However, many early inhalers contained chlorofluorcarbons (CFCs).

Brand-name firms, in turn, developed more environmentally friendly #HFA and dry-powder (#DPI) #albuterol inhalers.

By their own estimates, they spent $250-400 million developing these products.

1. #MaxHastings needs to bone up before sketchily declaiming ‘#histrionics in the #West’ about #ChineseBeltandRoad #lending, @thetimes 30 July 22, p 33. Becoming, like that #LeCarré, another raging '#nationaltreasure' discharging disaffected drivel.
2. Surmises of #moralequivalence between #Chinese and #Western rapacity by #MaxHastings are tenuous. #Pakistanieconomists, long critical of the #BRI, would remind him how 27% of #Islamabad’s #externaldebt, $90bn as of April 2021, is now owed to #Beijing.
3. #Pakistan, since 1988, has been bailed out 12 times and in talks for a thirteenth reprieve as it requires at least $41bn to sustain #foreignexchangereserves. #IMF suspicion of #dodgyChinese #powercompanies borne out in recent #reports.

Anyone seen this on major news-channels - not at all in line with #masshysteria engineered by the global #deepstate? BIG kudos to @luigidimaio and Mario #Draghi @Palazzo_Chigi for coming up with this plan to end #UkraineRussiaWar - throwing down a gauntlet to the #deepstate. ...
... and they will have to craft an "alliance of the sane", so started with @antonioguterres and canvassing #G7 - knowing that a lot of "allied sanity" is needed against the war-mongers in #Ukraine, here @Podolyak_M speaking for the #deepstate ...…
... and, finally, to give deserved credit: My attention was drawn to this initiative by this interesting interview on status of negotiations in @truthout, quite interesting otherwise, too - though nothing really new.…

#Narcissism thread 🧵 15 (more) questions to ask yourself if you are questioning whether someone is a #narcissist
1. Do they devalue, diminish, demonise or harshly judge you or act as the righteous ‘authority’ figure with you regardless of their age, status or employment? 🚩
Are they #superior? For e.g. A non lawyer preaching to a lawyer about law. 2. Are they #defensive? Do they seem only interested in trying to prove that they are right & you are wrong, in a defensive mode? 🚩They are #competitive not co-operative. Co-operation is a must #healthy
3. Do they demand #attention from you? For e.g., insisting on having the conversation when it’s convenient for them only &/or use emotional #manipulation to ensure conversation happens on ‘their’ terms? They may not answer the question, go off topic, deflect, defensive, accuse 🚩

Stop. Building. Rapport.
'Build rapport' is at the heart of #communication skills training and #CX

It's obviously good to have good conversations, but what does ‘building rapport’ look like ‘in the wild’ – and does it 'work'?
1. Thread. 🧵 Getty Images
2. What actually counts as rapport building – in terms of words and phrases and 'tone of voice' – is "amorphous” and “nebulous”, says G.B. Rubin (2016) in her thesis on crisis #negotiation

'Active listening' and related concepts sound good but they're also imprecise.
3. One common piece of advice (and instruction) to ‘build rapport’ is to ask, “how are you today?”

‘How are you’ have also been called “the three most useless words in the world of communication"🤔

Let’s have a look at some salespeople ‘building rapport’ in #B2B conversations.

We live in an attention #economy & what #Tweetiatricians have known for decades (#Twitter started in 2006): importance of drawing attention to factual science-based information as compared to #misinformation & #disinformation, especially on #vaccines…
You have to be fast & prolific to play catch up to this. I have 77K tweets, a moderate sized band of 6K followers interested enough to tolerate my volume but use of hashtags allows reach across Twittersphere. Trending hashtags = better for riding a way for that attention economy
If is unclear if we are now so siloed that tweets are ineffective with anti-vaxx. But not all anti-vaxx are QAnon

#TooGoodNotToShare ..

A father left 17 Camels as an Asset for his Three Sons

When the Father passed away, his sons opened up the will
The #Will of the #Father stated that the Eldest son should get Half of 17 Camels,The Middle Son should be given 1/3rd of 17 Camels & the Youngest Son should be given 1/9th of the 17 Camels.
As it is not possible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, the sons started to fight with each other.

Finally they decided to go to a wise man and the village elder.
