@brumbyOz (6) Rapes - Approx. 4320 rapes were reported in Pakistan in 2013, in India, 33,707 rapes were reported in 2013. Let's look at what affects the underreporting or rapes and why it is estimated to be more underreported in Pakistan than India.

@brumbyOz Two things that have massive effect on underreporting are: literacy rate and friendlier police force. Pakistan has less than 1% women officers in their force while India has more than 6% women officers in their police force.

@brumbyOz India has a female literacy rate of 59.3%, compared to 44.3% in Pakistan, a better literacy rates in this context means a better understanding of your rights and therefore resulting in a better reporting rate.

@brumbyOz Lets look at Rape Conviction Rate i.e. how many rapists are actually punished in both the countries. India has a rape conviction rate of 26% while Pakistan has a horrible rape conviction rate of less than 5% i.e. less than 5 rapists are actually punished
