Flowers not particularly renowned for long shelf-lives once cut. Can't imagine that sitting in a truck for several hours on either side of Channel going to do wonders for growers or florists. ➡️

If you can't get them to Aalsmeer - one of the biggest buildings in the world, certainly by floor area - promptly, then the value of your crop declines which can't be a good thing. ➡️

And if you - as a florist or supermarket - can't get them from Aalsmeer promptly, you'll land up with compromised stock that won't sell as easily.

Doubt if these topics will make their way onto the show, but worth a watch. ⏹️

As expected, Brexit not mentioned.

However, there was one Dutch wholesaler who sends over 150 trucks each week into the UK and they expect to deliver within 24 hours of clicking the 'buy' button at the auctions. ➡️

Mothers' Day 2019 just gets under the wire - all the stock will have been delivered by the time the UK leaves the EU on the preceding Friday.

But, if you're getting married in the spring/summer of 2019 and want flowers, good luck with that. 🤦‍♀️⏹️
