Assange was receiving ridiculous amounts of money privately from Cambridge Analytics. They are the group who were tasked with turning as many Americans into Hillary hating Pro-Trumpers, or as many on the left as possible into people saying exactly what you are.

The unfiltered truth you think you get from Wikileaks is actually so curated and often altered as to convey whatever narrative Assange and Putin wish.
They had possession of RNC hacks too, but didn't release them, instead Assange gave them to Russian security.
