This is antithetical to everything the @USArmy stands for and it flies in the face of 242 years of heavy reliance on immigrants as some of its best soldiers

When the state militias were formed into the Continental Army, it was in name only. It wasn't *really* an army until Prussian immigrant Baron Friedrich Wilhelm de Steuben turned it into one at Valley Forge in 1778.
From the Revolution all the way through today's wars, immigrants have played a vital role in fighting America's wars.

Much like America's early wealth was generated by slaves, much of America's military success for CENTURIES has been the work of immigrants.
I've said this before, but I saw it first hand leading two infantry platoons in Iraq and Afghanistan. So I'll finish by again noting just a few of the names of soldiers I was privileged to lead:

Here is a thing politicians 8,000 miles away from the fighting have never understood in 15 years of fighting in Iraq and Syria: The U.S. Army considers the Kurdish peshmerga an extension of itself. Much like individual platoons and companies are loyal to their interpreters.
American soldiers and Kurdish peshmerga have fought and died together fighting Ba'athists and ISIS.

The American people aren't loyal to the Kurds. Elected officials aren't loyal to the Kurds. But the Army is. And Mattis knows it. And Trump is going to have to deal with this now.

Best thing to come out of this election?

A completely unleashed Trump means:

all that stuff Sessions & Rosenstein & Horowitz & Huber had to keep under wraps for more than a year, the curtain can be tossed of it.

None of it was politicized before the midterms.
The only thing that leaked was the McCabe grand jury. And it quickly sank 'neath the surface again, quickly forgotten.

So Democrats and DNC Media can't do the "OMG YOU POLITICIZED THESE INVESTIGATIONS BY ROLLING THEM OUT BEFORE THE MIDTERMS!" talking point.
Trump said repeatedly it'd take him and his team 2 years to 'get up to speed'.

We're almost there. A lot of preparation has been done behind the scenes WITHOUT politicizing any of it so the Democrats could scream & wail about their heroes being persecuted & energize their base.
