For generations the wealthy, special interests, and corporations have been actively working to subvert the democratic process and influence political decisions that favor them and hurt the country. Is it any surprise we’re here?
They grew up employing as few people as possible, taking the teeth out of regulation and taxes, until they got so large they didn’t need the country anymore. And immediately they turned to despots and rogue actors.
This is how Trump turns to Russia and North Korea. It was never about human dignity or rights. Just ways to maximize profit. That’s why they dodge taxes. It’s not about giving back or patriotism.
They juiced this country until there was nothing left, until our schools atrophied and our roads crumbled. How could we have ever reached another conclusion after all this?
How does a country work when the most powerful and most influential actively work to undermine the interests of the many?
How do you get the most benefits from government when you avoid your taxes and celebrate your bottom line versus the country’s? How have we moved to representation without taxation?
