*midnight of THE FLY (1986)*
GIRL. "I've never seen this movie!"
DEDORK. "Know anything about it?"
GIRL. "No!"
ME. "Please sit next to me."
Tweeps, I am here to tell you: the lights came up and we turned to her seat to see what her face looked like, and that girl was *gone.*
Here are some observations about THE FLY (1986): it is about two people who learn from their mistakes and one person who doesn't.
Geena Davis's bad relationship with former boss John Getz gives her the experience to deal with her relationship with Jeff Goldblum.
Getz crosses from domineering into obsession in part bc he has pain he has no idea how to deal with. He crosses lines, not always rationally
Davis learns to not stay in a bad relationship.

Getz, button-pusher and line-crosser, learns to step back and provide support.
The one person in THE FLY (1986) who doesn't learn from his mistakes? Jeff Goldblum. He makes the same one twice.
Jeff Goldblum's char in THE FLY makes two mistakes that are disastrous.

Both are the result of doing something when he should do nothing.
