Firstly, about Gurudwara Dera Saheb Kartarpur. It was here that Guru Nanak spent a chunk of his last years at that location. Hence the emotional attachment of Sikhs to that place.

Secondly, about its physical location. The Gurudwara is located just above 2km from the nearest point on the Indian Border, across the Ravi River.
Thus, a corridor for controlled access to the Gurudwara is eminently feasible.

In my thread discussing the bugging of the White House, I discussed the timing of the remodeling efforts with the Department of Justice efforts to identify leakers in the FBI. I also found something very curious about the remodeling that was aimed at 'bugs'
Like everyone else, CNN covered the surprise emptying & remodeling of the White House. Then they covered the renovations after the White House was reopened. cnn.com/2017/08/24/pol…
3) CNN noted that this remodeling is usually done around the Inauguration but that President Trump delayed the project until August. CNN even included the cost figures for the renovations. How helpful! #Spygate #MuellerInvestigation

1) There's a corrosive narcissism in the ways settlers claiming vague Indigenous heritage insist their family stories are sacrosanct and unquestionable, *especially* when no evidence/relationships support them. Such fetishizing entitlement to Indigeneity is colonial to the core.
2) So many people have these stories regardless of origin, although the settler stories are particularly dangerous. Here’s a thread about why we have to treat claims of essential truth about family history with caution, especially when there's no community to help test it.
3) I’m a Cherokee Nation citizen through my dad, and those lines are well documented well into the 1700s. But my mom’s paternal family, of which we know very little, has also claimed Indigenous heritage, but these stories don’t really hold up to scrutiny.
