1/ I took the bar exam again last year for the 1st time in 20 years, and I plan to put up a blog post about it in the next few days. But here's a random tip: On bar exam day, don't wear a shirt/sweater from your law school, especially if you went to a highly-ranked school. Why?
2/ Because it's obnoxious. The bar exam brings together applicants from all walks of life, crammed together in a massive room for an extremely stressful exam. Everyone is stressed about failing, and many will. If you went to a school with a high passage rate, great.
3/ But wearing a sweater that says "HARVARD LAW SCHOOL" is pretty much a big asshole thing to do, especially to the many students who didn't go to schools with high passage rates. So don't be an asshole on the big stressful day. Just wear a plain shirt/sweater.
4/ P.S. Folks who were traumatized by the Virginia Bar's requirement that you take the exam in a suit, I am sorry.
