The Central Intelligence Agency has an Open Source Center, where open source officers work on, well, open source information. It was established in 2005.

On October 28, 2015, the Open Source Center was redesignated as the Open Source Enterprise and incorporated into the CIA's Directorate of Digital Innovation. Director John Brennan remained as the interagency Open Source Functional manager.

The Open Source Center was an idea by General Michael Hayden and was formally opened on November 1, 2005 in Reston, VA.

The latest Assistant Deputy Director of National Intelligence For Open Source I can find is Daniel S. Butler, who held the position from February 2006 to February 2011.

The Open Source Enterprise used to operate out of Caversham Park in the UK, apparently since 1943, but it was closed down in October 2017 after the BBC's open source intelligence division was sold.

BBC is BBC Monitoring, which gathered open source information for government departments such as the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign Office and Intelligence Services.

BBC Monitoring is the UK version of Open Source Enterprise.
