With most men, Trump role-plays as a bro or a boss. With Putin, he’s a needy wingman, letting P run the show. He’s SCARED of him... But maybe the weirder aspect of his behavior is that it’s consistent, in clear contrast with the abusive mood-swings he directs at everyone else.
He never loses control with Putin, doesn’t call him names or go hot and cold. Even when the guy humiliates him, he never wavers. Putin so obviously has something on him, whether it’s money or the pee tape.
(A lot of people are saying this is about Daddy issues, but I don’t think so. He doesn’t act this way with Kelly, say. It’s unique to his dynamic with Putin—especially the consistency.)
Some examples: he arrives on time & lets Putin arrive late. He lets Putin lead the conversation—& then lets P slyly not deny having kompromat *in front of him.* He doesn’t ever make any undermining remarks, even about Russia’s weak economy, a natural target for him.
Also, Putin’s interview with Fox is honestly amazing: he blatantly argues that since the DNC emails were real, it’s no big deal, right? He’s bragging about his knowledge of the subject... he practically says John Podesta’s risotto was delicious, so it was all worth it.
