Horrified at the news MGM is suing Las Vegas shooting survivors and planning a boycott?

Grab your wallet cause you're gonna need to boycott more than MGM. They own quite a few big names on the strip and tons of properties nationally.

Worth noting you should avoid the Venetian and The Sands as well, which are owned by Sheldon Adelson, who endorsed Trump and gave his campaign $100 million in 2016.

Also, I hope you know to stay away from the Wynn as well.
Basically, the Las Vegas strip is a nest of GOP vipers.
The other thing to note is that Mandalay Bay has one of the largest convention centers in the world, so if you’ve got corporate muscle, get it in the game here.

Even just a few big name conventions like @CES agreeing not to patronize MGM would be YUGE.

(2) First off, there are not a lot of rules about declaring national emergencies. And sadly, even in America, this executive power is rarely checked by Congress.

It's a tactic that has been used by both authoritarians and democracies around the world.

I was out for a walk this afternoon in my neighborhood, tromping through half ploughed icy sidewalks when something happened that happens way way too often.

A red pickup truck with a big engine pulled up alongside of me.

(2) At first I didn’t think much of it, but I did look up and glare at the driver. As a woman walking alone, even in the middle of the day, I am hyper aware of my surroundings.

I feel uncomfortable wearing headphones to listen to music when in public for exactly this reason.
(3) The driver was a young to middle aged white male and his truck was loud. He coasted along beside me for nearly half a block before stopping.

I was annoyed but shrugged it off. Maybe he wasn’t sure where he was going and was trying to get a closer look at the house numbers.

After the death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville, the far-Right was in a state of disarray. Predictably, many attempted to use conspiracy theories and fabricated lies to explain what had happened as a "setup" to "silence conservatives," or instead, as a "Soros" false-flag.
Leading the pack was Alex Jones + like with Sandy Hook claimed that Charlottesville was false flag. He stated: "I thought Trump’s response was great…we know that Soros has been planning this..and like trying to create provocative events...the whole thing looks staged to me…”

Okay. So. It's time once again for me to do that thing I do: a deep dive into Trump's state of the union speech.
For new followers who've tuned in since the last time I did this, bear in mind I am not a factchecker. That's a different (though related) skill set and best done by people with the training, resources, and editorial oversight that I don't have.
What I do have is a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people who don't like long, reflective Twitter threads or believe it's possible to overthink something.
