We have reached the investment target of €315 billion under the European Fund for Strategic Investments! EFSI is set to trigger €335 billion of additional investment europa.eu/!wT74nd #investEU #EFSI
EFSI aims to mobilise private investment in strategic projects for the EU, ensuring that money reaches and boosts the real economy. We launched it with @EIB in 2015 under the Investment Plan for Europe - also called #JunckerPlan #investEU #EFSI
In practice, EFSI is a €33.5 billion guarantee from the EU and @EIB budgets. It enables EIB to provide financing to higher-risk projects than it normally would. It has led to major economic benefits, unlocking additional investment of €335 billion in three years #investEU #EFSI
The EU has financed projects which would not have been possible without the EFSI, and all without creating new debt: 2/3 of the investment comes from the private sector #investEU #EFSI
EFSI has an impact on the real economy. It is expected to create 1.4 million new jobs and increase EU GDP by 1.3% by 2020 #investEU #EFSI
How has the #JunckerPlan benefited citizens?
💻 15 million households with high-speed broadband
🏥 30 million Europeans benefit from better healthcare
🏘️ 500,000+ affordable houses built or renovated
🍃 7.4 million households supplied with renewable energy

-Hungary is a net beneficiary since accession. It receives more money than it pays. +11.000 billion Hungarian forint since 2004.

-With 6.3 % of its wealth (gross national income) generated by EU investment, Hungary is one of the countries that benefits most from EU funding.
-Over 95 % of public investments in Hungary co-financed by EU. EU invests heavily in HU regions- projects such as modernisation of water systems in cities.

-With EU's help important monuments repaired all over the country: the Eger Minaret, the Sümeg, Kőszeg, Szigetvár Castle...

1/ €29 BILLION invested in the UK by the EIB.

EIB investments in the UK economy came to EUR 7.8 billion in 2015, the Bank’s largest ever engagement in the country. For 2015, energy projects accounted for 24% of total investments
2/ while transport and water claimed respectively 22% and 21% respectively of the 2015 figure. Another notable beneficiary has been health and education with an which jointly accounted for 20% of the total.
3/ Over the past five years (2011-2015) the Bank has invested over EUR 29 billion in the British economy.
