Is Tony Blair against Brexit? Yes
Is Brexit bad for the people of this country? Yes
Is Tony Blair going to convince anti-establishment Brexit voters that Brexit is bad for them? Not a chance in hell.
You may like Tony Blair, But are we just here to talk to ourselves?
Personally I'm of an age that I only remember Tony Blair for one thing
But I'm able to recognise when someone I don't like is talking sense. But we live in a world of personality politics. If we want to convince anyone, it's not going to be through him.
It's a matter of strategy. YouGov puts Tony Blair right in about the 99th percentile of unpopularity.
(e.g. I would love to make Brexit arguments exclusively based on human rights. But I know that wouldn't work so I don't. What/who I like is irrelevant.)

Tony Blair helped secure the Good Friday Agreement, bringing about 20 years of relative peace in Northern Ireland, but this isn't about what Tony Blair deserves or whether we like him. It's about what works and what doesn't.

I don't have a party to run / election to win, so maybe it's rich of me to stand on principle; maybe I'm naive, but...
I'm not willing to pretend that a good Brexit deal is possible just because I'm scared people (who I should have won over on Brexit) might think I'm ruining it.
I get why some might choose that due to their own strategic priorities. But if we go down the path of "keep trying Brexit until every last person is convinced it can't work":
a) We risk crashing out.
b) People would blame the EU not Brexit #HowWeGotInThisMess
c) It's dishonest
🔻The Tories want to endanger the Belfast Agreement which the EU won't allow. And even this Brexit will be rejected.
🔻Labour's Brexit must meet the 6 tests. That means Single Market & Customs Union. Parliament would never approve that for the same reasons we're stuck now.

To clarify, I am remain, but I feel a 2nd ref is monumentally risky & perhaps dangerous:-

1. Polls haven't changed much, result could easily be the same
2. Another campaign of hate will embolden the far right
3. If remain win. Leavers will demand another vote
4. Chaos & unrest are likely whatever the result, possibly violence too

What happens if it's still 'Leave'? Picture the chaos, square one. You're simply allowing the Tories more time to fail to come up with a solution. Every day that continues people in this country will suffer
What if it's 'Remain'? Leavers will, with some justification, query why this vote is more valid than the first. This has the potential to cause a constitutional crisis.

People can say 'we know the facts now' all they like, that will not placate millions of angry voters.

10% say @theresa_may's administration is doing a good job, compared to 23% in March.

78% say it is doing a bad job, compared to 55% in March.

1. The greatest insult to Britain is the promotion of the narrative that any of Vote Leave's activities had any bearing on the result whatsoever. It was probably the most ineffectual campaign in the history of British campaigning. VL had no idea how to run a #Brexit campaign.
2. In the run up to the vote the VL twitter feed was photos of mostly white, mostly middle class 19 year old boys in red t-shirts manning deserted stalls in the Home Counties which had zero online impact.
3. Of the street level activism, no not roll-up smoking, flat cap wearing elderly Yorkshireman on a rainy Wednesday in Castleford street is going to have his mind changed by a clean shaven Toryboy bussed in from London.

Mr Jones has been involved in a twitter storm over his comments re Lord Adonis and why he shouldn't speak up about #Brexit because he's a "caricature of the elite".

Let's examine one of the key points, where Owen advises Lord Adonis to resign his peerage and campaign for remain & also election
3) by this we must assume Owen advises all progressive peers resign their peerage (like Tony Benn) and look for proper election whilst campaigning for Remain.
