Oh, you saying @maddow and MSM got another story wrong?

I'm shocked. SHOCKED.
Again...I'm really not anti-media. I think they have a job and are human. We all make mistakes.

But man...is our media today grossly incompetent.

Too many mistakes, and inability to admit those mistakes has undermines all public trust in the institution.
And now...@cnn and @brianstelter double down on the false story.

Again...journalists are primarily to blame for the pathetic condition of their field.

'Reliable Sources' is the new 'Fair and Balanced'.

Both are equally false.

This is a good lesson for Republicans, but they never learn it.

In 2009-2010, when many of us conservative health wonks (especially people like @Avik ) tried to get GOP to coalesce around a plan to pass in the future...they basically took a pass.

That is one reason GOP failed.
The GOP remains completely incompetent and inept when it comes to long term policy strategies, and health care is the prime example.

If you want to know why they failed on repealing Obamacare, start with their actions in 2010.
Sound govt policy (conservative, liberal, or otherwise) takes time to grow and evolve. The GOP never bothered to really have a debate on what 'conservative health care' looked like.

So when Trump came along, the GOP was caught flat footed. And thus, were bound to fail.

On this #VeteransDay2018 ...short rant on the Veterans Administration...and its continued failures to our military veterans.
In August 2014, with much press celebration, Obama signed a bill (with the support of John McCain) that purported to fix the major deficiencies within the VA.

I was highly critical of the bill at the time, and I think history has proven I was right.

The bill increased funding for the VA, was supposed to enforced timely care for Vets, and increased funding for mental health and sexual abuse.

FYI: A 2007 news story revealed that Kavanaugh had LIED under oath during his 2006 confirmation hearing. Dem senators asked DOJ to open a criminal probe into the matter. The request was denied by Benczkowski, now-Trump's DOJ Criminal Div Chief.

Been hoping to do the MKO Abiola/June 12 thread as promised before now but events are sometimes beyond one’s control. Seeing as tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of that date, I’m sure it is definitely a good time to do it.

And so, here goes: a Thread on MKO Abiola and June 12.
It is difficult to separate MKO Abiola from the story of June 12 and the June 12 struggle because as Gani pointed out back then, Abiola was the symbol of the mandate of Nigerians and his imprisonment became the rallying point of the struggle.

And MKO Abiola was a complicated man
Even more interesting, the June 12 story itself is a most complicated one with many sides but mainly two - the political and the ethnic; and two other ones - the activism around it and on a lesser scale, the family involvement.

The common thread though is Abiola himself.
