X : Code execution is insignificant compared to storing, extracting and deriving value from data.
Me : Have you ever tried storing, extracting and deriving value from data without executing code? What did you use? Stone tablets? Pen and paper?
Me : Let assume you used stone tablets, did that "data" just smack you over the head with its truthiness? Did you have to translate it? A model of understanding by chance? And pray tell me, what is code other than a mathematical model.
Me : Data on its own is meaningless. To have value it needs to be expressed as meaning. That expression is code - it doesn't matter what the model of expression is i.e. what language is used. Meaning is not inherent to the data itself. There is no absolute truth.
Me : I don't care whether it's biology (I'm a former genetic engineer) or computer science. I can always build more data with a means of expression, without that means of expression then I have nothing.
Me : Do not tell me that "I know nothing" or that "I have a serious misunderstanding of my field" just because I don't agree with your quite frankly limited view that data is more important than code. Argue the point not the person or ...
