We're looking for artists, creatives, etc., who are living in and/or from the Midwest & want to tell stories to move communities to action.

This is the type of BS that happens when we don't connect a Reproductive Justice and Black feminist framework with Black liberation. This shit was trash & violent towards women. essence.com/celebrity/t-i-…
This imagery is no different than Kanye saying that he is supporting Trump because the "her" in "I'm With Her" made him feel "uncomfortable" as a man. Mistreatment & violence towards women is ALSO a tool of white supremacy.

White supremacy doesn't exist without patriarchy.
If your justice doesn't have a gender analysis...it's not justice! In the long run, this type of shit still ends up hurting Black women. It makes me sick that some of y'all still believe you can use sex w/ a man as a corrective action. This video is what rape culture looks like.

1) Weak leadership - enough said.
2) A vision that has been written by a few and adopted by the few that wrote it. It's understood by no-one.
3) A mission that is known by a select group who when questioned, don't know it. The school are certainly none the wiser. It's a mission that impresses from the outside looking in but is meaningless to the inside ones looking out.

Gonna embarrass @DHx34 on Senior Day. I had Damien as a freshman. We had a conference a few weeks in & I asked him how everything was going--he said it was an adjustment being far from home, but he was excited that he was able to get some snaps on special teams.
Obviously things turned out well for him (especially in a tweet where he used ethos/pathos/logos & research to tell a hater that many of Alabama's best RBs started out on special teams).
I had him in a different class a few years later--Damien, as y'all know, is a really smart dude. He can coast. But other athletes (and students!) don't have that luxury; if people see him not putting the work in, everyone else is going to slack off.

I’ve been hiring on small startup eng teams for the past 8 years (most recently grown @Closeio's eng team from 2 to 14, before that at @quizlet).

Hiring is always hard. It does get easier over time, but it's always something you have to work super hard at. If you're not ready to put in really hard work, you won't be successful hiring.

Don't hire too early! Why not?
1. 😩 Hiring is hard & slow. Skip it as long as you can.
2. 💸 People cost $$$
3. ✅ Do the job yourself first. You'll be better at hiring for the role once you have.
4. 🚀 Small team = fast & nimble
