Let's all sit down and have a little think about this word liberal.
Liberals want to maximise freedom for the individual. Most women in a hijab choose to wear it. If you tell women what to wear - or not to - you are not a liberal.
Sometimes people wear things we don't like, like conservative religious clothing, or revealing outfits, or Metallica T-shirts. Tough shit. People get to wear what they like.
If you can tell them what they can wear, they can tell you what you can wear, and pretty soon we're all in boiler suits.
We've been talking about this for years, at least since that cragglefaced tit Sarkozy banned the veil in public buildings over a decade ago.
The argument is settled. There is no liberal case to ban the veil. It's like trying to cure a rash by painting over it.
But this isn't about liberalism, or women's rights. It's about Johnson doing a little raindance for the drooling keyboard warrior fascists led by Bannon.
So if you're going to get in with that lot, at least have the spine to say what you are and what you're doing. Don't pretend you're fighting for liberalism. You literally don't understand the meaning of the word.
