Historical thread. We Jews know all about this. There was a time when Jews in America were perceived to be a filthy criminal race, 'cause we kinda were. Arthur Rothstein! Bugsy Siegel! Meyer Lansky! Ah, the good old days.
I wonder sometimes why Italian-Americans, Irish-Americans, German-Americans, Slavic Americans, etc etc don't seem to be as cognizant that they used to be immigrant scum, too.
BTW: I love talking to my friends who are children of immigrants... Iranian, Vietnamese, Palestinian-Muslim. Their parents are exactly like my Russian-Jewish grandparents. They themselves are living out my parents' story. All immigrants are the same.
Ex. I once watched @MazJobrani enthrall a huge crowd of 1st generation American Muslims with hilarious jokes about their crazy parents. I said to myself: this is Woody Allen doing jokes about Jews in the 50s/60s for my parents... all immigrants are the same.
