Okay so I see things are popping off with Amy Siskind today. I've been reserving judgment and waiting for more information. But let me give a few thoughts.
First, some accountability for me. I've been following Amy. Mostly because I could see she had tapped into an important part of the movement against Trump.

Today I unfollowed her. Because it's now clear that she's still using white woman politics. And we can't abide that anymore
It's important to grapple with nuance when talking about what's happening here. Amy has done important work. The info she has compiled and shared about the dangers of this administration are actually powerful and valuable. I haven't seen anyone deny that.
At the same time, the question is whether Siskind has internalized the intersectionality necessary to build a true coalition with marginalized groups. That is always a question for people of color when white women are centering themselves and putting their face on shit.
You get some credit for putting in work against a common enemy. And no one begrudges you the rewards that may come from that.

But neither of these gives you automatic credibility when it's time to show solidarity with those who are not like you.
This started because Siskind made a misstep in one of her tweets. She was feeling herself a little too much, and she decided to act like the fight didn't start until she showed up. That's a common mistake. It's recoverable. It all depends on how you respond to the call out.
Everything went down hill from there. Siskind decided to respond defensively and wrap herself in her newfound credentials like armor.

"I'm sorry if I offended. But look at all I've done for you!"

Nah. She forgot the internet carries receipts.
It was a trickle at first. A few folks I didn't know in my mentions talking about who Siskind used to be. I took note, but I ignored. I do believe folks can change.

But Siskind's poor response made sure that folks were gonna start verifying this stuff.
By the end of the day, I came back and everybody was on it. Folks that I know and trust were posting the receipts and asking Siskind to be honest and own her past. And more telling, a whole other faction had shown up to "protect" Siskind. And she was more than happy to let them.
For me, it culminated with this. Siskind cosigning the same kind of egregious rhetoric that we're fighting against. With *herself* at the center. Yeah, fuck that.
Nobody did anything to Amy Siskind today. She outed herself as the kind of white woman who will build her success on your back.

Even if she started with "good intentions" and a real fire to oppose Trump. She decided protecting her self image was more important than solidarity.
