The president's statement describing his reasons for revoking @JohnBrennan's security clearance is fascinating on so many levels, but I'm struck by the assertion that he lied to Congress, which obviously be a crime.
It seems to have originated with the GOP report from the House intelligence committee. (The report doesn't accuse Brennan of lying - it's in a footnote to a paragraph that's sort of trying to make the point that Clapper might have lied.
And @paulsperry_ made the same argument in a Real Clear Investigations piece soon thereafter. realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2018/…
But it seems like a pretty ambiguous record on which to determine someone lied. Brennan testified that the Steele "dossier" wasn't a source for the IC assessment on Russian election interference. Adm. Rogers testified a summary was appended to the ICA draft.
Those things .... aren't all that inconsistent.
(The other alleged lie was to the Council on Foreign Relations. In that case, he dismissed reports that the CIA had improperly accessed Senate computers by saying "we wouldn't do that," then found the CIA actually did and apologized.)
