first, we don't "choose romantic attachment to people of the same gender." we can choose whether or not to purse people of the same gender (the born this way narrative doesn't fit everyone!) but I would say that we don't choose who we are attracted to

let me explain to you my typical homosexual behavior:
going to school
doing homework
making dinner
hanging out with friends
feeding my cat

because I am A Homo and therefore all behaviors I engage in are Homo Behavior

"homosexual behavior" is almost always shorthand for "gay sex" but G A S P we can't talk about gay sex

because y'all, my homosexual behavior/queer culture is about SO MUCH MORE than just....who I'm sleeping with. but all the straights care about is if we're fucking.

do you understand why Black History Month is so important? why "black lives matter" is important and "white lives matter" is just dumb?

there's pride, sure, having an inflated ego or thinking too much of yourself or your capabilities. that's a sin, sure, whatever, but as we have learned from feminist & womanist theologians is that tends to be a straight/cis/white man's sin.

queer and trans and gender non-conforming folks have spent our entire lives being told that we are wrong. broken. fundamentally flawed. many of us LGBTQ+ Christians have spent YEARS actively hating ourselves. and being told that hating ourselves was the good and right thing.

the more you can hate yourself, the most disgusted you can be with your desires the better a Christian you are being. maybe you can HATE YOURSELF INTO BEING STRAIGHT.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THAT DOES TO A PERSON

SPEND YOUR ENTIRE LIFE HATING EVERYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF AND THEN COME AT ME WITH YOUR 'PRIDE IS A SIN' BULLSHIT

Pride is resistance. Pride is believing that we have worth and value. Pride is believing that we are loved. Pride isn't a sin, it's a means of survival.

instead of telling your kids about how queers people struggle with the sin of pride, tell them how queer folks are trying to find a way to survive in a system that is trying to kill them.

just don't. don't pretend to care about me while you are working to take away my rights, my relationship, my safety, my existence. don't smile while you vote to end anti-discrimination laws.

at least be upfront about your hate so I don't have to be on edge with anxiety trying to figure out if you hate me. I'm tired of always having to guess whether I need to play straight if I want to survive. just be honest about it so I know to avoid you.

anyway that's all. I'm tired of bad biblical exegesis. I'm tired of hatred being called love. I'm tired of evil being called good. I'm just trying to exist over here.
