I wish I had the will to give up. There is no trade agreement to walk away from.
What you have to ask is why are they threatening to walk away from something that doesn't exist?

I told you from the beginning. Theresa May wanted to bypass the exit negotiations to get a new treaty.
She never had any intention or ability to formally dissolve our membership. She misused an international treaty.

If I'd been leader of the opposition, she would have resigned right there because I would have confronted her with that in parliament.

So she has committed an act of gross misconduct in public office, which the media either by corruption or incompetence has failed to question.

Anyway, what she's trying to do now - again, only because no one has confronted her behaviour - is make these ridiculous gestures at Europe to try and get them to believe we really mean it.

Whether Europe believes in this idiotic posturing or not, I don't know. But it doesn't change their response either way.
As far as they are concerned, this is an exit negotiation towards a formal treaty of separation.

We can either leave under the terms of a withdrawal agreement, or we can leave without such an agreement.

What we are not going to do is slide seamlessly from the European Union into the new trade agreement that Theresa May had in mind.

She thinks that if she makes enough silly gestures, eventually a new treaty will appear.

A new trade agreement will never appear. There has to be a withdrawal agreement first, and Theresa May will never dare sign any such thing.
It's all just bluster. She's insubstantial. A fart in the wind. And in the absence of a withdrawal agreement she will resign.

Parliament and the media have spent two years play acting, and I don't know you, but I'm fuckin sick of it.
This government is all make belief and pretend. Two fuckin years of it. And what we need now is adults back in the room.
