We are just trying to exist and tell our stories in a framework that punishes us for our femininity and also punishes us for not conforming to it. We are told our stories don’t matter, our careers don’t matter in comparison to men

We are reviewed with contemptible conscious and unconscious bias. We are trolled by those reviewers under the guise of news, even when one of us is murdered. When a female comic does something well we are told that they are the best female at it and all others should be like that
On television we can be literally be reduced to tits.
When we complain about it we get stonewalled & told we are ‘difficult’. Our work gets taken away. We are made to compete against our contemparies & friends for one chair at the table.

We begin to experience internalised misogyny and Highlander syndrome. We believe there can be only one

Because the experience and stories of 51 percent of the population are token. Once we get to a stage that we are undeniable at comedy we get told we are too old whilst we watch men in their 40’s,50’s and 60’s still be given a myriad of opportunities.
We make small mistakes and we can’t recover whilst we watch men literally break the law and be rewarded. We fight all these battles daily when all we want to do is get up there and tell our jokes and our stories. We have lost so many brilliant women along the way
I don’t know how we make this better except for pleading that instead of focussing on those men fucking up we turn to shine a light on all the brilliant women who aren’t. We are all touring, making stuff and being funny on here. Get behind it. Make it your mission
