My post digging on that Mary Sue article complaining about people with disabilities in Marvel movies has kind of exploded.

The most heart warming part is all the people who have shared their own stories of chronic pain and how much Ghost meant to them in Ant Man & the Wasp.
Really, up to this point I was pretty sure I wasn't the only one who felt this way, but I never really knew. I don't know other chronic pain sufferers in my life who are also comic geeks.

It warms my heart to know y'all are out there too.
Also, that Mary Sue article has 150 likes and my post calling bullshit on it has over 10,000.

It's nice to know that people by and large get it.

Been trying to figure out why Iron Man 3 gets singled out so much as one of the worst Marvel movies when I think it's actually one of the best -- and I think it's because as much as people say they want something that doesn't adhere to the "Marvel formula", they really don't.
Even Thor Ragnarok, which on the surface feels like such an aside to the MCU is structurally just like all the other Marvel movies.
But on the script level, Iron Man 3 is the one movie that deviates the most from what every other Marvel movie does.

It's also the reason why I love it so unabashedly.

If you want to know the high moral standard with which the @GOP regards counting ballots look no further back than the 2000 recount in Florida.

The recount stopped due to a mob tried to force their way into the office. They were later revealed to all be RNC staffers & lobbyists.
@GOP Republicans did everything from demagoguery to lawsuits and even paid mobs committing violence and threats to prevent people's votes from being counted in 2000.
@GOP There is nothing scarier to Republicans than an election where everyone's vote is counted, because that's not an election they can ever win.

I heard someone in the film industry say recently that the lifted blacks, lowered highlights look that's been popular for the last decade in colour grading is because some director looked at RAW footage on a monitors and said "that's what I want."

Nope.
The lifted black look has been popular for a decade because people like David Fincher do it.

And the last thing you can call Fincher is a uneducated director.
And this look is in direct contrast to the colour grading process that completely dominated the late 90s and early 2000s -- the bleach bypass look with heavy contrast and deep blacks. Guess who popularized that look in the 90s? Yup, David Fincher.

Marvel Movies: Thanos abuses Gomorrah. Thanos must sacrifice something he loves for the infinity gem. Thanos sacrifices Gomorrah and gets the infinity gem. Therefore, Thanos loves Gomorrah even though he abuses her.

Like I don't know what to do for dingdong comic boys in my mentions telling me I just "didn't understand" a movie as simple as Infinity War. It's not fucking deep.
"Actually, the movies aren't saying that Thanos, the abusive parent who stole a child from a people he kills, does it out of love." That's actually EXACTLY what the movie is saying, I know there was a lot of extraneous bullshit and it was like three hours, but yeah.

1) you don’t know what people in Chicago do every day to fight intracommunity gun violence. You know nothing about it. You don’t know about the work we do in education, community mental health, mentorship, or other long-term comprehensive efforts. Educate yourself.
one small example: no, you’re not gonna see me tweet BLACK FOLKS R KILLING EACH OTHER. But when you see me up in arms about making sure Assata’s Daughters has gardening supplies or school closings, it’s bc I understand that shooters are hungry people & kids with no schools.

💭 Most shocking moment so far in the @Hulk 2008 is @LivTyler dating the dad from Modern Family.

Also as much as I like Edward Norton I’m just picturing @MarkRuffalo in my head and this movie is even better.

1. I forgot how we used to talk about Marvel movies being “grounded” or “realistic” especially when it comes to color pallete and portrayal of characters or events.

The colors in Black Panther and Thor 3 have come a long way since 2008.
