Currently, the party of the governor has a one-seat majority on the bipartisan board. Republican lawmakers were fine with that until a Democrat got elected governor.
If Republicans get their way, legislators will appoint the members of the board themselves, and the board will be split evenly between Rs and Ds.

To bring that back around to that first tweet, if Republicans get that constitutional amendment passed, the elections board would be unlikely to fight this. GOP members will be appointed by GOP lawmakers, who have no problem infringing on voters' rights.
Assuming the Democratic appointees to the elections board would want to legally challenge these unprecedented subpoenas by Trump's DOJ & ICE seeking 2 million ballots & 15 million voting records, a tie vote on an evenly split board = motion fails. Nothing happens.
So, if this amendment remaking the elections board passes, Trump can just wait and ask for all those voting records again next year, when a gridlocked board is unlikely to be able to oppose him.
