BREAKING: Supreme Court denies the foreign country-owned company's request to stay a contempt order resulting from its refusal to comply with a grand jury's subpoena. Chief Justice Roberts' "administrative stay" is vacated, so the result is the contempt order is back in effect.
That order of the court follows this request, made Monday but put on the docket today, to file a cert petition in the case under seal. Not clear what will happen with that now, but the contempt order (and associated fines) will now be back in place.

Alleged Russian agent Maria Butina is asking the judge to set a change of plea hearing, and pitched several days this week. "The parties have resolved this matter"
Butina pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in July. She was indicted on two counts: acting as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the US govt, and conspiring to do that. She's been in jail this whole time: buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…
So a "change of plea hearing" would indicate she's now going to plead guilty to something, but it may not be those two charges. We know from earlier court filings that she's been negotiating an agreement with the govt

Butina's lawyers say she was released into general pop, but then put back in isolation on Nov. 21 — they say jail staff told them Butina referred another inmate to her lawyers, but there was no disciplinary violation, and that officials said she was moved "for her safety"

- The judge denied Maria Butina's motion to reconsider her pretrial detention, agreeing w/ earlier finding that there were no release conditions that would ensure she doesn't try to flee
- The judge imposed a gag order, finding comments by Butina's lawyer crossed a line
The judge did ding the govt for making the "rather salacious" claim that Butina offered sex for a position and then walking it back, saying it took her five minutes after reading the messages to conclude they were a joke. Judge said she was "dismayed" by govt's handling
