1. Progressives/liberals like to say they are on the right side of history. They insist that the arc of history bends towards progress. This is just wrong on its face if one takes a quick look at that "arc" of history.
2. Throughout history it's shown that civilizations always fails in the end. That social progress within that particular civilization is at best a short term victory.
3. In fact, a good case could be made that our current ordering of world society based on westen civilization ideas is just another cycle and it will be soon followed by failure.
4. You can take any period of time and see there is no arc of human history but a cycle of human history.
5. Egyptian, Greece, Roman, the Huns, Aztec, Incas, Vikings, china dynasties, sahelian, ottoman, English, USSR, USA Western Civilization, Eastern civilization; Name a time or place and you get the same cycle of human history there is no arc.
6. Humans create a civilization for whatever reason and other humans destroy it. Whatever social progress that was made in that civilization is wiped out when it's destroyed.
7. There is more history and culture that has been destroyed than has been saved. A modern example would be the Iranian revolution in 1979 and the reversal of social progress in that society. Another example would be the endings of the czars and the communists in Russia.
8. Over and over again the cycle repeats due to human nature. There is no arc. In fact, history shows the more diverse an empire becomes the more likely that empire will fail as it becomes impossible for the empire to meet the needs of and absorb all the cultures.
9. As the diversity grows so does the need for greater and greater force to get everyone to co-exist. Winners and losers are chosen by the leaders leading to ethic, racial, ethnic and cultural conflict. The losers increasingly resist the winners until open conflict arises.
10. Rebellions, revolts, riots and invasions soon follow and the empire is destroyed from within and/or without. That society then falls into a period of chaos and a law of the jungle where might makes right until the cycle moves to the next stage and a new society is formed.
11. The successful ones will than expand and take over the other groups/tribes until it all repeats.
12. If the destruction and chaos are light some of the social progress might be saved and built on in the next cycle. If it is heavy most if not all of the progress is wiped out.
13. With today's weapons of mass destruction societies, progress etc can be wiped out in seconds and the cycle will start over again if there is anyone left.
14. If people think this time in human history is different due to technology, liberalism etc and the "arc of social progress" is on their side for all time now, please explain the reintroduction of slavery and human trafficking in societies, explain the burka, and explain the EU
15. It would be a good point to remember that whatever social progress is made in a society can only continue for as long as that society is around and able to defend it's borders, laws and people.
