Very important new judgment on what looks like a further overspend by Vote Leave (£620k) - the High Court ruled (dpglaw.co.uk/wp-content/upl…) that the Electoral Commission interpreted the law wrongly, particularly what counts as "referendum expenses" under the 2015 EU Referendum Act
👆This further supports the @UKEUchallenge case that there was serious and significant unlawful conduct in the EU Referendum which renders the result undemocratic and illegitimate crowdjustice.com/case/ukineucha…
I see this is being painted as a victory for Vote Leave as it was the Electoral Commission's faulty advice which led to the overspend. But either way (1) it was a major overspend and (2) it further supports the point that the Referendum was procured by fraud, whoever was to blame
To clarify - c£600k has already been found to have broken the rules (electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/…) but the Court has said Electoral Commission misinterpreted law and should have found it was unlawful on a further ground. But Veterans for Britain £100k likely now to be unlawful too
