This is a subtle, but significant, bias rooted in reporters accepting characterizations from Trump officials uncritically. Trump isn't a "visual learner" (there is no such thing). He refuses to read anything. This is spin in the guise of reporting.…
Just this week we've seen how Trump is willfully untethered from reality with his comments on the Puerto Rico casualty toll. That's a terrible problem when it comes to managing the work of the government like disaster relief. Presenting Trump as a "learner" distorts the truth.
Trump is pretending to be a President while some functions of the government work around him. Trump is entirely disengage from reality and that is masked by his lickspittles such as @LindseyGrahamSC who can be counted on for a fawning quote.
Everyone who surrounds him knows Trump is unfit to carry out the duties of his office for various reasons. Many of those are tasked with masking that fact through little pageants like the one the Post covers here. It's transparently a sham.
I'm sure the Post reporters would point to the negative comments about Trump and say they're being "balanced" but that still obscures reality, Trump is play-acting as President while others do the work. Multiple books have made this clear. That's the story, the Post ignores that.
Trump is unfit. He is not truly acting as President. We are in a constitutional crisis every single day. That's the story. The mainstream journalists won't write that story. They barely even hint at it. Maybe they're saving that stuff for their post Trump books.
Every journalist who publishes a post-Trump book filled with reporting on his incompetence and disordered thinking that did not share this reporting in their day-to-day work should be ashamed of themselves. We also should try to resist supporting their work.
