@ThinkLumi Nope. You had the first bit right. You drop molecules with little energy (ice) into molecules with lots of energy (water), the cold is not “transferred”. Instead, the ice molecules absorb the energy from the water, and water with less energy is lower temperature.
@ThinkLumi The bit that is counterintuitive is temperature doesn’t exist. That’s just a thing we humans have to represent energy/no energy. Like “colour” is just a thing in our heads to represent wavelengths of light.
@ThinkLumi The good news is this is an easy concept to grasp: imagine 50 kids. Standing still, you can pack them in tight. Ask them to take 1 step per second in a random direction and suddenly you have “expansion due to heat” and you see the kids take up more space.
